30 June 2026by Vaibhav1 min read

Need to add GST to a price or strip it out of one? This calculator does both in a click.

What is it?

GST is an indirect tax on goods and services. Within a state it splits equally into CGST and SGST.

How is it calculated?

To add GST: GST = amount × rate ÷ 100. To remove it: base = amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate).

Example

Adding 18% GST to ₹10,000 gives ₹1,800 GST and ₹11,800 total (CGST ₹900 + SGST ₹900).

Key things to know

  • Inter-state sales attract IGST instead of CGST+SGST.
  • The correct rate depends on the item (5/12/18/28%).
  • Show CGST and SGST separately on invoices.
  • Use the reverse calculation to find the pre-tax price.

Frequently asked questions

What are CGST and SGST?
The equal split of GST within a single state.

When does IGST apply?
On sales across state borders.
