Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Linqz (“Linqz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit linqz.me (the “Site”). Linqz is an independently operated personal finance website providing calculators, articles, and educational content. It is operated by Vaibhav.
We wrote this policy to be genuinely readable, not just legally defensive. If anything is unclear, contact us at the email below.
1. Who We Are
Site: linqz.me
Operator: Vaibhav
Contact: admin@linqz.me
For the purposes of GDPR, Vaibhav is the data controller for personal data collected through this Site.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the Site automatically collects some information whenever you visit, including:
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, links clicked, referring pages, approximate device and browser type, and similar analytics data, collected via Google Analytics (Google Site Kit).
- Approximate location — we use your IP address to estimate your country, so we can show region-appropriate calculators and content (for example, Indian vs. U.S. tax calculators). We do not attempt to identify your precise location, and we don’t store your IP address ourselves beyond what Google Analytics retains on our behalf.
- Local storage preferences — your selected country/region may be remembered in your browser’s local storage so we don’t have to ask again on your next visit. This stays on your device; it is not transmitted to us as a separate record.
2.2 Information you provide directly
Currently, the Site does not have user accounts, a newsletter signup, a contact form, or a comments section. If and when we introduce any of the following, this policy already covers them so it doesn’t need to change on that day:
- Newsletter signup — if offered, we would collect your email address solely to send the newsletter, and you could unsubscribe at any time via a link in every email.
- Contact form — if offered, we would collect your name, email address, and message content solely to respond to your inquiry.
- Comments — if enabled, we would collect the name, email, and content you submit with a comment. Your email would not be displayed publicly. Comment metadata (including an approximate location derived from your IP) may be checked automatically against a spam-detection service.
We do not collect financial account numbers, passwords, government ID numbers, or other sensitive identifiers through the Site, and the calculators on this Site perform all calculations locally in your browser — figures you type into a calculator (income, EMI amount, investment goals, etc.) are never sent to us or stored on our servers.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Site uses cookies and comparable technologies (such as browser local storage) for:
- Analytics — Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visitors and measure site usage.
- Preferences — remembering your selected country/region.
- Advertising (planned) — if we enable Google AdSense, Google and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
Where required by law (for example, for visitors in the EEA/UK), we will only set non-essential cookies after obtaining your consent through a cookie banner.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its calculators and content;
- Understand which content and tools are useful, via aggregated analytics;
- Show you the correct region’s calculators and articles;
- Respond to inquiries (once a contact form exists);
- Send newsletters you’ve opted into (once a newsletter exists);
- Serve and measure advertising (once AdSense is enabled);
- Comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or misuse.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK/Switzerland visitors)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, UK, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing your personal data are:
- Consent — for non-essential cookies, analytics where consent is required, and any newsletter signup.
- Legitimate interests — for basic security, fraud prevention, and understanding aggregate site usage, balanced against your rights.
- Contract / your request — for responding to a contact-form inquiry you initiate.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with:
- Google (Analytics and, in the future, AdSense) — to measure site usage and, if enabled, serve advertising. Google acts as an independent controller/processor for its own services; see Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Our hosting provider — the infrastructure that stores and serves the Site necessarily processes traffic data to deliver pages to you.
- Service providers we may use in the future for email delivery (newsletter) or spam filtering (comments), bound to use data only to provide that service.
- Legal authorities, if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
7. International Data Transfers
Because we use U.S.-based service providers like Google, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries outside your own. Where this involves transferring data out of the EEA/UK, we rely on the transfer mechanisms those providers maintain (such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses).
8. Data Retention
We retain analytics data for as long as Google Analytics’ default retention settings apply (which we may configure to a shorter period). If a newsletter, contact form, or comments feature is introduced, we will retain that data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
9. Your Privacy Rights
9.1 If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Request erasure of your data;
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Receive your data in a portable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
9.2 If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)
In good faith, and independent of whether the Site currently meets the CCPA’s applicability thresholds (which generally require a certain revenue level or volume of consumer data — this Site is a small, independently run publication and likely does not meet those thresholds today), we choose to offer California residents the same practical rights:
- The right to know what personal information we collect and how it’s used;
- The right to delete personal information we hold about you;
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information;
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information; advertising cookies, if enabled, would be disclosed above);
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
9.3 How to exercise your rights
Email admin@linqz.me with your request. We will respond within a reasonable time, and in any event within the timeframe required by applicable law.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for responding to it yet, so the Site does not currently respond differently when it is enabled.
12. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through the Site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Third-Party Links
Articles on the Site may link to external websites (for example, official fund pages or government resources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites; we encourage you to review their own policies.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, including as we add features such as a newsletter, contact form, or comments. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
